Dr. Susan Block to deliver “BONOBO WAY” Keynote at UPRM ECOSEXUALITY Symposium

Los Angeles, California: January 7, 2016 — Susan M. Block, Ph.D., a.k.a., “Dr. Suzy,” internationally renowned sexologist and best-selling author of The Bonobo Way: The Evolution of Peace through Pleasure (Gardner & Daughters Publishers), will deliver the keynote address for the first Symposium on Ecosexuality in the Caribbean, to be held on-campus at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez (UPRM).

Block’s keynote, “The Bonobo Way: An Ecosexual Paradigm for Humanity,” poses the question, “Can we learn to make ‘peace through pleasure’ from our Great Ape cousins?” Inspired by the real bonobos, it presents these fascinating close genetic cousins of ours as a new primate model for humanity in terms of sexuality, war, peace, gender equality, community and “ecosexuality.”

“The ‘killer ape’ paradigm, based on competitive, male-dominant common chimpanzees, has long been used to explain and excuse human violence, rape and war,” says Block. “Bonobo apes are at least as close to humans as common chimps, but rarely rape and never kill each other. Instead, they utilize consensual sexual activity, sharing resources, female empowerment, recreational play, hedonic kindness and lots of hugs to diffuse violent tension before it descends into murder. Can we humans learn to ‘make like bonobos (not baboons)’ and live in harmony with each other and the Earth? At this turbulent point in human history, it’s worth a try. Perhaps, if we learn from these amazing creatures—as well as save them from the seemingly imminent extinction that humanity’s bad habits have forced upon them—we can crack the bonobo code of ecosexual peace through pleasure.”

Other Ecosexuality Symposium speakers include UPRM Professor Serena Anderlini-D’Onofrio, Ph.D. and Lindsay Hagamen, co-editors of Ecosexuality: When Nature Inspires the Arts of Love, the collection that brings together the voices of 30 leaders of the ecosexual movement; Marsha Scarbrough, author of Honey in the River: Shadow, Sex and West African Spirituality; Music Director Mariá Virginia Sánchez Cintrón; award-winning author and UPRM Professor Linda M. Rodriguez Guglielmoni, Ph.D.; “Conscious Communication” Master Trainer Taber Shadburne, M.A.; Aguadilla-based author Dr. Anya Trahan; Ecosexual poet and activist Karen Hery; Puppetry artist Camille Cortes and more, along with a screening of Drs. Annie Sprinkle’s and Beth Stephens’ documentary, Good-bye Gauley Mountain: An Ecosexual Love Story.

Block’s Bonobo Way Keynote is scheduled for 10:45 – 11:45 AM on January 28, 2016, at UPRM’s Teatro Figueroa Chapel, the first event of the Symposium. She will also conduct a workshop on January 29, 3:30 – 4:15 PM, entitled, “Release Your Inner Bonobo: A Different Kind of 12-Step Program,” weaving stories, studies, theories and fantasies into possibilities and a practical path of action that enables a very personal “Ecosexual RƎVO˩ution,” deepening “bonobo awareness” of our global interconnectivity through empathy, eroticism and play.

Plural Wedding of Ecosexual Love Sets Hearts on Fire – An Amorous Visions Calendar: Feb 22-March 6, 2014 in California

Dear Planet Lovers,

It’s the night before the flight that starts a traveling period of about five months over several countries.  I only have a short time and I don’t want to take off without the promised follow up to my newsletter announcements back in December.

Oh well . . . . where do I start?

The wedding: we did it!  The first plural wedding of ecosexual love in the Caribbean.  It really happened!  iI’s done.  And it was a success. More: it was magic.  With everyone in the group listening to the invocation ministered by Heather Anne Trahan, and taking the vows to be Playa Azul‘s “spice.” Wooow!  We were so amazingly diverse, yet united by this declaration of love for an ecosystem that I sincerely call my nurse, doctor, and lover.  She is very compersive and not at all jealous.  And now that we all share this lover we are all “metamours.”  Lovers of a partner we share.  And since that day the shift in the energetic field all in and around the beach itself, ourselves, and those who come to enjoy nature, is just momentous.  We all share a lover, so we are all collaborative.  We were completely spontaneous and everyone was eager to be on camera.
For me, and others I hear, emotions were high: to experience a “wedding” as freedom, peace, inclusion. When all feel part of it: more people, more “spice.”  What a turn around!  Marriage? It’s for everyone, ecosexual style.  Puralizing this institution: making it open, fluid, vibrant.  Acknowledging ecosystems as equals: as partners.  Thank you Playa Azul for choosing me 16 years ago and for keeping me safe, healthy, happy, at ease, and vibrant.  As an added bonus, when in the throes of this template production, an amazing team jelled up.  Our director, Shaison Ouseph, was on his first visit to Puerto Rico from Mumbai.  He learned all about us and got really enthralled, as you can see from the trailer he put out.  Many others pitched in, acknowledged with gratitude.  If you like what you see, let us know.  You can also join the conversation on the FB event page.  We are ready for the next episode in the series Hearts on Fire.  And we can bring the Hearts on Fire right where you are.  We we’re taking calls and getting booked up!

If you can’t wait to hear more about Hearts on Fire, we have something coming up.  On Saturday, February 22, Hearts on Fire officially invites to a preview of Te Amo Playa Azul I Love You, at the International Conference on the Future of Monogamy and Non-Monogamy.  we start at 4 PM, at the Clark Kerr Center, Building 14, UCB, 2601 Warring St, Berkeley, CA, 94720.  It’s a unique opportunity to preview and discuss the ecosexual art movie that will document the first plural wedding of ecosexual love in the Caribbean.  We’re happy to present the project, share more trailers and photographs, and take questions.  Including: “how do I bring this healthy, and safe, and happy, and easy practice of ecosexual love to my families, my ecosystems, my communities?”  We look forward to being with you there.  Share with friends and invite.  Thank you!

This big wave of ecosexual love also helped congeal the energy of “Amorous Visions,” the cinema studies project that brought me to Connecticut last year.  With her warm sunshine, caressing waves, clear waters, and blue horizon, it was easy for Playa Azul to attract, in one
day, some 15 “spice” (plural for the word “spouse,” poly style).  No wonder she’s an ecosystem conducive of such abundance.  We make movies about ecosexual love.  What if we interpret cinema as a study of ecosexual love?  Turns out the motion camera can really find out what happens to the energy of love in ecosystems toxic with fear.  The health and vitality of ecosystems does affect the quality of human relationships.  And yet, even when fear is rampant, love finds a way to survive.  Love for love: the code for this energy encapsulated in a virus, surviving for a better time.  This became the focus for UC Irvine and UC RiversideAmorous Visions: Sex, Genders, and Ecosystems of Love in Bertolucci and Cavani.  Talks are asfo.  Monday, March 3, at 2-3:15 PM at UCR.  Room HMNSS 2212 (English Department Conference Room), hosted by John Ganim for the auspices of the English Department and Queer Lab.  Wednesday, March 5, at 2:30-5:00 PM at UCI.  Room HG 101, hosted by Jonathan Alexander, with auspices from the Writign Center and the Gender and Sexuality Program.  These are al free univrsity event, and they are fun.  I promise.  All details and directions on the FB events page.  Join us.  We want to take your questions and practice inclusive democracy, ecosexuality style.

Speaking of which, UCSD choose a talk on Ecosexuality, and that’s happening on Thursday, March 6, at 4:3-6:00 PMEcosexuality: Notes for an Orgasmic Earth, is the title for the in-the-works collection about ecosexuality I’m co-editing with Lindsay Hagamen.  We will be announcing this amazing collection of writings, and introducing the
Elizabeth Stephens and Annie Sprinkle’s Ecosexual Wedding
online platform for the book launch.  Teamwork here too. Go to www.orgasmicearth.org to find out who all is in the line up.  We will also introduce ecosexuality as the practice, theory, art, and activist that reveres the Earth as a lover and acknowledges her ecosystems as partners with significant and enduring rights.  We will focus on the practice of ecosexual weddings to ecosystems and forces of nature, as initiated by Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens in the seven-year project LoveArtLab.  We will explain the relatednes of ecosexuality and modern Tantra.  A don’t miss.  Room: LGBT Center at UC San Diego.  Hosted by Pasquale Verdicchio, with auspices by the Literature Department and the LGBT Center.  All details and directions on the FB event page.  From wherever you are, this is worth a trip to La Jolla, San Diego.  Join us!

Finally, after March 6th, time for a break comes.  Here it’s time for acknowledgements to all those who contribute to this calendar.  My hostess in Oakland, Spring Friedlander, with her

healthy, amorous, and inclusive community house.  My host in San Diego, Adam Paulman, whose inclusive amorous gifts are well recognized.  All the auspices and organizers,

including my Deans, Manuel Valdez Pizzini and Felix Fernandez.  the administrative assistants at UPR Mayaguez who spent endless hours “comprobando” (=corroborating the evidence for) expenses and funds.  The teams of Te Amo Playa Azul, including film director Shaison Ouspeh, production coordinator Lloyd Sparks, emcee slash translator Maria Virginia Sanchez, liaisons with campus and organic farms Paola Pagan and Ricardo.  High priestess Heather Anne Trahan, who invoked the natural forces on the speaking of the vows.  All the “guests” and participants in the three workshops who were eager to be filmed as spontaneously as they came long.  And who embraced together the shared spouse.  All the inspiring minds in the 2012-13 Fellows group at UCHI, and its Director, Sharon Harris.  The students in Ecosexuality, including Adam Kocurek and Alexandra Mayer, and the WGSS Chair, Nancy Naples.  Please please please help spread word of upcoming events and invite your friends.  Thank you!
If you want to catch up with me or invite me in and around the West Coast and the Bay Area, April is your chance.  My calendar is open.  Travel plans proceed with visits and rest in May, plus getting to team up more deeply in view of future plans.  Alessio, my oldest grandchild, turns 10 on May 15th.  He’s an amazing student.  Thanks Paola Coda for bringing him up.  And we plan to spend it together with family and friends in Rome.  Visits to Cap d’Agde, France, in late June, and guests from Portland, Oregon, at PostaHouse in early July.  For all these programs, there is a place set at our table, if you choose to join us.  We have extra rooms in the chalets and camping room in the garden.  space is limited so let us know in advance.

More announcements coming as projects evolve.  They have a life of their own, and I, the “inspiring force,” am only the conduit ever rushing to catch up with them.  So I hope you will forgive if this letter reads a bit rushed.  Oh well, I have a flight to catch.

Sending much love and all good wishes to all of you and your loved ones.  Thanks you for listening and opening up.  Stay tuned for more coming.  With all good wishes for a happy end of winter, spring, and summer.  Thank you!

Namaste,

SerenaGaia

Te Amo Playa Azul I Love You – How to Join, Donate Time, Talent, Arts: Jan 25th, 2014

Dear Earthlings:

yes, we hear you: you want to donate time, talent, arts, skills to Te Amo Playa Azul I Love You!  You love the Earth and want to marry one of its beautiful ecosystems.  Plus, you’re a very imaginative artist of love and wish to bring you creativity to the day’s joyful celebrations.  That’s a wonderful thing and there are many ways to do it.
Here’s what to do:
Save the date of January 25th, 2014.  If you are NOT in Puerto Rico already, save the whole extended weekend period.  Go to KAYAK and book a round trip ticket to Aguadilla-BQN.  You will be a short 40-minute drive from your bride, Playa Azul. Puerto Rico is a US territory: no passport needed if you are a US citizen.
We plan an all-day celebration with workshops, performances, rituals, magic, ablutions, facilitation, ceremonies, refreshments, hospitality, foods.  We want to get to a place where we all feel vibrant, connected, and energized to really celebrate our love for the beach.  We welcome facilitators, performers, teachers of ecosexual love.  The day will culminate with the actual wedding to/on/with Playa Azul the beach.  It will be a sacralization of this beautiful ecosystem.  We welcome shamans, priestesses, witches, magicians to officiate the sacred unions.  Third planet Gaia is a very generous lover to us: she hosts all the love that’s ever been and ever will be, she’s the most compersive partner we’ll ever experience, and she offers beautiful gifts, like our bride for the day, Playa Azul, or “blue beach.”

We welcome all participants.  The beach is open to the public and usually frequented by very respectful people who appreciate the good care of those who live in the nearby condominums.  It’s a magical balance we’ve created over the years: we love the beach, the beach loves us back: we have joy, harmony, and peace.  Bring towels, water, swim gear, and what makes you comfortable for a day at the beach.
You can simply show up and participate in ongoing programs and activities.  There is excellent swimming and snorkeling in the nearby reef.  Please bring your own gear.  A beautiful walk on the sandy shore is available too.  There is natural shade under the beautiful beach vine trees, called “uva playera.”

You can also relax and observe from a distance. Voyeurism is participation, right?  We have not forgotten our LGBiTransQueerPoly wisdom!

Finally, you can facilitate a workshop, lead a ritual, perform a favorite piece, dance to the waves of the sea, read a poem, do your magic, play a skit, sing a song with music, play the drums, lead an aquatic activity.  Playa Azul is a very simple, but not clothing-optional beach.  The temperature is estimated at an ideal 85 F for the season.  Shed your warm clothes and wear cotton, hemp, silk.  Veils, scarves, shawls, pareos will do.  Bikinis and briefs are welcome for those who prefer swim wear.  Be imaginative and fun with your costumes.  Wear pink, white, and gold to enhance the colors of the ecosystem.
Here we offer some pictures of Playa Azul.  Isn’t the bride beautiful?  A perfect place to encounter diversity in sacred union.  And Te Amo Playa Azul I Love You will be an encounter across languages and cultures.  Isn’t the bride beautiful?  We welcome spontaneous ways of being together that enhance the role of the hosting ecosystem.  We will facilitate translations and transitions.  Bring your imaginativeness and experience.  Let this blessed ecosystem inspire you.  Our program is open and we invite ideas, proposals, possibilities.

We will offer healthy beverages and foods for the wedding day.  You are welcome to camp on the beach with your own equipment: free access to bathroom, pool, and shower.  There are rooms at nearby Hotel Parador Joyuda Beach.  The Parador, or “place to stop,” is a local hospitality place and is literally a two-minute walk from Playa Azul.  It’s not the best but it’s nearby.  You can go ahead and reserve your room (now at $ 95/night for a double). We may have donated apartments available on Playa Azul and other areas.  Please ask.  We will prioritize hospitality for those who offer skills and let us know soon.  You will need transportation from the BQN-Aguadilla airport to Playa Azul and back.  Rental cars are available at the airport: Enterprise has a special deal. And my favorite driver, Ariel, is available too: book him at 787 644 3001. We may be able to pick you up: give us notice of your arrival time.
We hope this inspires you to offer yourself this exciting opportunity.  It will be a gift to remember.  In creating these cherished memories for you, we follow the inspiration of supreme EcoSexual artists of love Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens.  Visit their LoveArtLab for inspiration about how much fun an EcoSexual Wedding can be.  Invite your loved ones to join you in the journey.  The practice of ecosexual love expands every day.  We wish to create a space of positive visibility for you and a model of Earth love and stewardship.
Choose Te Amo Playa Azul I Love You.  We value your time and will do our best to make this happen for you.  Let us know what what you’d like to offer and what you need.

Much of the videography will be on site.  The choice of being in the video is entirely up to you.  Your energy, talent, and  participation are appreciated regardless and will be great contributions to the event.

Please get in touch with Serena and Shaison:
at serena.anderlini@gmail.com, and shaisonp@gmail.com.  Tell us, in a few words, why you’d like to come, who shares the trip with you, and what you’d like to do.  Send us a write up with some images.  We will consider and get back with you.  We look forward to further working with you.  Thank you!

Hearts on Fire: Together in Ecosexual Love. Where: @ Playa Azul. When: Jan 25, 2014

Hi lovely Earthlings!
I’m introducing a new film project.  We’re organizing an ecosexual beach wedding to celebrate our love for Playa Azul.  Save the date: Jan 25, 2014.  Playa Azul is the bride and the whole community is invited to wed her.  Everyone gets to kiss the bride too!  We’d like to envision this as a way to expand the conversation of marriage equality beyond the human couple and across biological realms.  We feel this is related to all who practice love outside of the box.  How about you?  Please watch the video and share your thoughts.  You can ask your questions here as well.  We’ll be very grateful.  Thank you!

SerenaGaia is the project’s inspiring force.  Yours truly is also known as Serena Anderlini-D’Onofrio: author, professor, visionary.  She’s based in Puerto Rico and lives on the Caribbean shore.    Shaison P. Ouseph, the project’s artistic director, is an award-winning filmmaker based in Mumbay, India.  Together we created the video you watched via transcultural digital communication.  How did you like it?  The artistic quality of this collaboration anticipates the quality of the videography we intend to produce together.

Hearts on Fire: Together in Ecosexual Love
We designed this series of visual documentaries to help celebrate the love humans receive from Earth’s beautiful ecosystems.  We also intend to open up the discourse of marriage equality to entire human communities.  This is the logo we created together.  What kind of inspiration does it create for you?  Share your thoughts with us.  We will appreciate them!  Thank you!

More details about the project are available below and on our Facebook and Indiegogo pages, including how we plan to fund the project and what each episode will entail.

The template episode will be a wedding to/with/on Playa Azul, a Caribbean beach that has loved SerenaGaia for 16 years.  She’s lover her back!  So a miracle of balance between humans and ecosystems has happened.  Together, we celebrate of this energizing, ecosexual relationships.  Love the Earth?  Marry an ecosystem with us!  Te Amo Playa Azul I Love You is scheduled for January 25, 2014.  Bring your own magic to this ceremony.  We are now accepting proposals from participants.  Everyone gets to kiss the bride!  Looking for Playa Azul/Punta Aenas?  Click here for Google Map.

Ready to fund the project?  Our Indiegogo campaign is open: BECOME AN OFFICIAL DONOR HERE!  GREAT PERKS FOR YOU!  Stay tuned for more information and tell us about your interest.  We will be very grateful and reward you with a whole range of exciting perks.  We can’t wait to thank you!

Interested in having the docu-series come to you?  Let us know where you are ans what you’d like us to do.  We will consider your offer: further documentaries will be planned as the project evolves. It’s a great way for you and your communities to get positive attention for your good ecosystemic work: sustain your ecosexual love.

CALL for CONTRIBUTIONS – ECOSEXUALITY: The New Orgasmic Revolution on Planet Earth

Call for Contributions

ECOSEXUALITY:

The New Orgasmic Revolution on Planet Earth

A collection of miscellaneous writings on Ecosexuality
Edited by Serena Anderlini-D’Onofrio, Mark Olson, and Lindsay Hagamen.

Ecosexuality has emerged as a socially transformative movement where the energies of activism, art, theory, and practice coalesce.  It is a style of amorous, erotic, sexual, and artistic expression that extends love and agency to nature as an equal.  Ecosexuals theorize human bodies as ecosystems similar to those that make up our hostess, lover, and mother–Earth.  Ecosexual practices reconnect the metabolism of our species to the metabolism of third planet Earth.  Ecosexuals believe that humans are nature.  Ecosexuals are artists of love who wed themselves to nature and invent imaginative ways to extend equal rights to all its elements and life forms.  They come in all colors, genders, ages, backgrounds, and orientations.  Ecosex activism brings more fun, passion, hope and diversity to the environmental and holistic health movements.  It generates global awareness of love as the ecology of life on planet Earth.  Ecosexuality can awaken erotic feelings for nature, including human nature as a highly erotic species.  It revisits every aspect of life as an opportunity for the intellectual, spiritual, political and artistic expression of ecosexual love and its inclusive orgasmic potential.

We invite contributions on any aspect of Ecosexuality including those mentioned above and many more.

We accept contributions in various genres, including academic studies, philosophical, theoretical, and critical articles, reports from the field, testimonial writings, personal narratives, interviews, dialogs, debates, poems, scripts from workshop presentations and performance pieces, artists’ pages or other visual representations, reports from events, courses, and other transformative experiences, and more.

Love is the heart of democracy, and as the 99 percent reinvents this practice as a horizontal system of participation and inclusion, we invite Gaia, the third planet, to grace us with her hospitality and sustenance.  May this volume speak her voice too.

Please send all submissions and inquiries to serena.anderlini@gmail.com.  Proposals will be accepted by email (MS-Word).  Please send an abstract and/or description of what you’d like to contribute.  Our tentative date for complete submissions is now February 1st, 2014.  Please send either a complete contribution or a one-page proposal, plus a bio.

A very respected independent publisher in the field has expressed a serious interest in doing this book.  We will secure the best agreement and distribution.

If you are a voice in the paradigm shift at hand and its transformative movements, this call is an opportunity you don’t want to miss.  Let us hear from you!  Please POST this call as widely as possible too!  Thank you!
Please let us know if we can answer any questions.  We’ll stay tuned!

Namaste,

To readers: This book is a dialog between me and myself.  In between is the Universe.  I have followed the teachings of the ancients, who also used dialogs in a philosophical form.  We need a new vision of love.  A vision that will persuade this cosmic force to stay.  The space between Gaia and Serena is where the new vision manifests.
This is probably the most inspiring book I’ve ever done.  I am seeking endorsements from all the writers, healers, lovers of love I know.  Publishers want to hear your voice.  Let’s give the book its best chance to go out in the world and perform its transfomative effect.  You are invited to request chapters and write your endorsements in the form of “blurbs.”  Snapshots are intended to guide your choice.  I will need your endorsements by the end of August.  Thank you!
Snapshots of Chapters
1: Love As Art
The theory that love is an art and what makes it an essential life affirming interpretation.  The cosmic force of love as the ecology of life.
2: Initiations
The rituals that create the sacred spaces where the energy of love is invoked and the arts of loving are learned.
3: The Pleasure of the Other
The explanation of why a good artist of love is a lover who experiences the pleasure of the other as his or her own.
4: Monogamy and Monosexuality
The institutions that regulate love as the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain of a divided world that smothers the energy of love.
5:  Romance, Sexuality, and Exclusivity
The three essential elements of love that function like essential colors in the palette of artists of love who mix and match them in different combinations.
6: Beyond Exclusivity: Compersion, the Spirit of Polyamory
The joy of holding the space of love for others.  What planet Earth does across time and space when she hosts life and sources the cosmic energy of love.
7: Fluid Bonding: Health and Safety in Erotic Communities
Why a world where it is safe to love is a world where it is safe to live.  What practices of health protect the safety of amorous communities and their participants.
8: Beyond Monosexuality: Fluidity, Knowledge, Eros
Why when love is interpreted as an art, loving beyond gender is natural and bisexuality is a portal to this ecosexual world of sexual fluidity and amorous inclusiveness.
9: Ecosexual Love in Cyberspace
The interpretation of cyberspace as a new dimension of love that activates the sphere of planetary consciousness also known as noopshere at new levels of inclusiveness, fluidity, and intensity.
10:  Ecosexuality and Holistic Sexual Health
Ecosexuality as the practice of love beyond gender, numbers, ages, orientations, races, and species.  The style of love that embraces all of life as a partner with equal rights and optimizes local, global, and ecosystemic health.
